The beat a class is kept to.
Tactus is a class builder and timer for instructors. Build the class on your laptop. Run it from the phone on the bench. It keeps the count so you can keep the room.
What it does
Build the class in blocks
An exercise is a name and a time. Type 130 and it reads 1:30, the way a microwave does. A break is a block with nothing in it but time. Sections group the blocks, so a class reads as a warm up, a set and a cool down rather than forty rows.
Drag to reorder. Select six exercises, duplicate them and change the progressions on the copy. The running total sits against the fifty minutes you have.
Run it from the phone
Press Start and the whole screen is the count. The name of the exercise at arm’s length, the time left in the block, and what comes next. Skip forward, go back, add thirty seconds when the room needs it.
The time left in the whole class stays in the corner, so you know you are running long before you are.
The laptop and the phone agree
The class you built on the laptop is on the phone before you have picked it up. Both keep working with no signal and settle up when one comes back.
Send a class to another instructor and it lands in their inbox as a copy that is theirs to change. Yours stays yours.

Who it is for
- Pilates
- Yoga
- HIIT
- Barre
- Spin
- PT
Tactus was built with a Pilates instructor and five colleagues who teach from it every day. It is for anyone who runs a room to a clock: reformer and mat, HIIT, spin, barre, a circuit in a park. If your class is a sequence of things that each take a set time, this is the tool for it.
One instructor with their own library, or a small studio where the team sends classes to each other. Each person signs in to their own account on any device they like.
Features
- No sound. Instructor phones live on silent, and a timer that depends on a beep fails the moment it matters. Every cue is visual. The field changes colour when the block does, and the phone can vibrate if you ask it to.
- It opens paused. Start is your call, not the app’s. The opening note sits on the start screen: springs, injuries, who is in the room today.
- A reload is not a reset. Lock the phone, drop it, open it again mid-class and the count is where it should be. It works from the clock, not from what it remembers ticking.
- An update waits to be asked. A new version never lands on a phone in the middle of a class. It offers, and you take it when you are ready.
- It installs like an app. Add it to the home screen and it opens full screen, with your library in it, signal or not.
Your studio’s colours
The app’s accent lives in the chrome. Your palette lives on the blocks, and the two never share a surface, so a studio can put its own colours on a class without anything clashing. Pick one in Settings and it follows your account to every device.
Pricing
Tactus is in a closed alpha. It is free while that runs, and this is what it will cost when it launches.

Each instructor has their own account and library, and classes move between instructors as copies. It works in the browser on iPhone and Android and installs to the home screen.
Your library lives on our server and on every device you sign in on, so it is there with no signal, and the server is backed up nightly.
